Join us on for prayer, reflection, and song! Welcome Shabbat in a joyful, participatory, and engaging service, with melodies that calm, songs that enliven, and prayers that elevate. This lay-led service blends tradition and creativity, drawing on contemporary and innovative Jewish music from around the world.
Following the service, there will be an oneg featuring special guest speaker DeMaurice Smith, who will speak on “How Integrity, Courage and the Collective Responsibility to Uplift Others Have Shaped a Career in Securing the Rights of Workers.”
Prior to his work with the NFL players union, DeMaurice was a trial lawyer and litigation partner of two major DC law firms, and he also served as the chair of one of the firm’s government investigations and white-collar practice groups. He also served as counsel to then-deputy attorney general Eric Holder in the US Department of Justice. DeMaurice also spent nine years with the U.S. Attorney’s office and one with the Department of Justice, working on national security and prison construction-related issues.
The deadline to register for dinner is 12:00 pm on Wednesday, June 24. No RSVP required to attend only the service and oneg.
