The Rabbi Samuel Scolnic Adult Institute offers classes in a wide variety of Jewish subjects, including traditional Torah study, history, culture, Israel, philosophy, ethics, law, literature, music, and art.

Our clergy teach every fall and spring semester along with other rabbis and educators and experts on specific topics of interest.

Each semester there are courses available on Tuesday mornings and Wednesday evenings, and the semester is six weeks long.

The Spring 2023 semester will take place March 14-15 through May 2-3, with no classes April 4-5 and 11-12.

Tuesday Sessions 

  • 10:00 am-10:50 am
  • 11:10 am-noon

Wednesday Sessions

  • 7:30 pm-8:20 pm
  • 8:40 pm-9:30 pm

Early Bird registration is $40 per course for Beth El members and $50 for non-members.

Subsequent registration fees are $45 for members and $55 for non-members.

The Rabbi Samuel Scolnic Adult Institute was formerly known as the Saul Bendit Adult Institute.



The Judith Scolnic Memorial Lecture

To honor the memory of Judith Scolnic z”l, the Scolnic Institute committee planned a lecture to inaugurate the new semester of classes. Rabbi Benjamin Scolnic, son of Beth El’s Rabbi Samuel Scolnic z”l, and Judith Scolnic z”l, delivered a talk entitled Did Democratic Ideals Begin in Early Israel?
