Our Building

Beth El features a remarkable combination of highly spiritual, sacred space for prayer and extremely functional, attractive space for parties, receptions, meetings, and study.

Main Sanctuary

Our main sanctuary seats approximately 400 people, expandable to more than 1,000. Recently refurbished, the reading table is accessible and the slightly raised bimah help foster a greater sense of intimacy and participation.

Chapel

Our 200-seat capacity chapel, expandable to 500, is the pride and joy of many of our congregants. Its Jerusalem stone, floor to ceiling stained glass panels, unique bronze and glass ark doors, and etched-glass entryway windows truly make one want to worship in song and dance, embodying the words engraved in Hebrew on the doors of the ark.

Room Rental

Most rooms at Beth El are available for rent for private functions, such as:

  • B-mitzvah dinners/receptions
  • Wedding ceremonies and dinners/receptions
  • Family Shabbat dinners
  • Birthday and wedding anniversary celebrations
  • Meetings and conferences for outside organizations

Religious ceremonies such as weddings, funerals, and b’nai mitzvah for non-members must be approved by the rabbi.

Beth El's Holocaust Torah Scroll

In 1991, George and Michlean Amir, on the occasion of their daughter Dalia’s bat mitzvah, arranged with the Memorial Scrolls Trust to obtain on indefinite loan to Beth El a Holocaust Torah (scroll MST#276) that was rescued from the town of Heřmanův Městec in Czechoslovakia. The Beth El Torah scroll, located in the Rudolph Gallery, memorializes and honors the victims of the Holocaust and is used for educational purposes.

We list their names in alphabetical order, followed by birth date, the date of their arrival in Terezin (as entered into Nazi records), date of departure to Auschwitz Concentration Camp, and their date and place of death where that is known. (Note that “ova” is the feminine form of a family name in Czech.)
