Congregation Beth El (Beth El) is committed to protecting your privacy and using technology that provides you with a powerful, yet secure online experience. This policy applies to the Beth El website (www.bethelmc.org) and governs data collection, usage and dissemination. By using this website, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.

Personal Information Collection

Beth El treats personal information, such as your name, e-mail address, home or work addresses, and telephone numbers, as private and confidential information. The Beth El website may use cookies and/or collect anonymous information from site visitors that can include: browser type, operating system, domain names, access times and referring websites. This information is used by Beth El for the operation of the service, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the website.

Beth El collects and uses your personal information to operate the Beth El website and to deliver any services you have requested. Beth El may also use your personal information to inform you of other products or services available from Beth El.

Member Portal

Beth El maintains a centralized database of its members and those who participate in Beth El functions, schools and/or services. This database is securely housed and maintained by a professional vendor, Cloud for Synagogues, and its access is restricted and limited to specific Beth El staff on an as-needed basis.  Beth El offers a members area within which all website functions and services are secured by password.  Updates and changes may only be made from within this area to a member’s own personal information record.

External Websites

Beth El utilizes external website services such as Facebook, Eventbrite, SoundCloud and SignUp Genius. Beth El is responsible for our own content provided on those websites. However, the terms, conditions, and policies of those websites prevail and are not under Beth El’s control.

Commenting Guidelines

Beth El’s website includes blogs, which may invite readers’ comments. All comments will be reviewed prior to posting based on the following guidelines: keep posts on topic and relevant to the original post; no personal attacks; no inflammatory, discriminatory or profane language; no posting of unlawful, confidential or knowingly false or misleading information; no private personal information; and no solicitations of any kind may be posted.

Changes to this Statement

Beth El will periodically review and update this policy. Visitors are encouraged to occasionally review this document to be up-to-date on how Beth El is protecting personal information.
