Join us on Friday, January 9 for the kick off of our Scholar in Residence Weekend with Dr. Masua Sagiv of the Shalom Hartman Institute. We will welcome Shabbat together at 6:30 pm, followed by a congregational Shabbat Dinner at 7:30 pm. After dinner, we will hear from Scholar in Residence Masua Sagiv, who will speak on “Divisions and Compromise in Israeli Society: What Will Happen in the Elections?”

Dr. Masua Sagiv is a Senior Faculty member of the Shalom Hartman Institute based in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Koret Visiting Assistant Professor of Jewish and Israel Studies at the Helen Diller Institute, U.C. Berkeley. Sagiv’s scholarly work focuses on the development of contemporary Judaism in Israel, as a culture, religion, nationality, and as part of Israel’s identity as a Jewish and democratic state. Her research explores the role of law, state actors, and civil society organizations in promoting social change across diverse issues: shared society, religion and gender, religion and state, and Jewish peoplehood.

Sagiv will also speak on January 10 after Shabbat services and kiddush.

Cost: $23 per member Adult/Teen, $28 per nonmember Adult/Teen, $12 per child ages 6-12, $8 per child ages 2-5. No charge for children under 2. Please RSVP using the form below by 12:00 pm on Wednesday, January 7.
