Join Chai Society 60+ for a screening of the film Ain’t No Back to a Merry-Go-Round. The movie tells the story of five Black students who rode a segregated carousel in 1960, igniting one of the earliest organized interracial civil rights protests in U.S. history. Ain’t No Back to a Merry-Go-Round is the little-known story of the Jews they marched with, Nazis they provoked, Congressmen they inspired, and Civil Rights leaders they became. When white Jewish suburbanites from the community near Glen Echo Amusement Park joined the Black students in picketing, an extraordinary history-making partnership was born.
Please register to attend using the form below by noon on November 1. This event is open to Beth El members only. Thank you to Beyond BEENs for organizing this event for Chai Society 60+.
