Join us to discuss The Director by Daniel Kehlmann, which has earned rave reviews for its powerful, darkly comic World War II story of art, ego, and bad choices. The novel is based on the life of pioneering 20th century Austrian film director, G.W. Pabst, and also draws from Kehlmann’s Jewish father’s experiences growing up in Austria during the Third Reich. The Director raises provocative questions about the responsibility of artists, as well as ordinary citizens, in times of political crisis.
