Sunday, April 15, 7:00 pm – Benny Morris – Perhaps the leading historian of modern Israel in the world, Benny Morris speaks about “Looking Anew at the 1948 War” as part of the Israel Distinguished Speakers Series.
Thursday, April 19, 7:00 pm – Israeli Dancing – Celebrate Yom Ha’Atzmaut with performances by local Israeli dance troupes Kesem and Yesodot, followed by Israeli dancing for all attendees. A great opportunity for congregants of all ages and their families to join in dance the way Israelis do it on Yom Ha’Atzmaut. Light refreshments served. Friday, April 20, 6:30 pm – Kol Haneshema – Join us as we welcome the joy of Shabbat with both traditional melodies and the latest in contemporary and innovative Jewish music from around the globe; service includes musical instruments. Service followed by Israeli Shabbat Dinner, featuring an Israeli menu and a Shira Betzibur, a communal sing-along, led by Hazzan Asa Fradkin.
Saturday, April 21, 9:30 am – Special Israel Shabbat Morning Service – featuring a Yom Ha’Atzmaut sermon by Rabbi Harris and a parade of flags by Beth El’s children.
Saturday, April 21, 8:30 pm – Israeli Media Series will feature Between Worlds, a drama about truth, faith, understanding, acceptance, and love that can, and maybe should, replace fear of the unknown.
Thursday, May 3, 7:30 pm – Israeli Military Robot Demonstration and Discussion – Shahar Abuhazira, CEO of the Israeli company Roboteam based in Gaithersburg and Tel Aviv, and recently featured by the Washington Post, shares his insights on Israel high tech and innovation, including a live demonstration of the life-saving military robots designed and manufactured by his company. Perfect for anyone interested in Israel’s technological prowess, robotics, kids and their parents, as well as all who take pride in the “Start Up Nation.” Light refreshments served.
