Rosh Chodesh: It’s A Women’s Thing

January 17, 2018, 7:30 pm
Congregation Beth El
8215 Old Georgetown Rd
Bethesda, MD

Our next meeting of the Sisterhood’s Rosh Chodesh group will take place on Wednesday, January 17, at 7:30 pm in the Family Room. You do not need to sign up in advance; just show up and enjoy an evening of learning, celebration, discussion, and sisterhood among a very special group of women!

Our study section will focus on the month of Shevat, the holiday of Tu Bish’vat (including a discussion of the origins of tree planting on this date), “Ten Minutes of Talmud” by Rabbi Amy Scheinerman on the topic “Women: People or Chattel?”, and Shabbat Shira. We will discuss Tu Bish’vat’s effect on contemporary Jewish involvement in environmental issues, and of course, we will honor our “Woman of the Month” (always a surprise!).

In addition, please bring with you any further ideas about future topics of interest to you.

The group is coordinated and led by Rabbi Mindy Portnoy.
