SUMMARY:Beth El Night at JxJ: DC Jewish Film and Music Festival
DESCRIPTION:One of the highlights of the year is almost here!  The Edlavitch DCJCC’s JxJ: DC Jewish Film and Music Festival begins on May 7 and runs through May 17. Once again\, Beth El has a special opportunity. \nNow through April 29\, tickets for the Opening Night presentation of Once Upon my Mother at Landmark Bethesda Row are reserved exclusively for Beth El members!* Join your Beth El friends and community on Thursday\, May 7 at 7:30pm\, for this special screening of Once Upon my Mother\, winner of the Audience Award for Best Narrative Film at the Miami Jewish Film Festival.   A triumphant celebration of unconditional love\, this movie is a joyful\, heartwarming family saga that radiates faith\, devotion\, and the transformative power of maternal love. \nInspired by Roland Perez’s autobiographical novel\, Once Upon My Mother is an emotionally rich and often funny drama set in 1960s France. When Esther Perez\, a spirited Moroccan-Jewish mother of six\, refuses to accept a bleak prognosis for her newborn son born with a clubfoot\, her fierce determination to help him live “normally” shapes his life well into adulthood and creates a bond that is both powerful and complicated. Featuring music by Jewish music legend Sylvie Vartan\, who appears as herself\, this vibrant cinematic gem became a major crowd-pleaser in France\, celebrating the extraordinary\, against-all-odds devotion of a mother’s love. \nDon’t miss our Third Annual Beth El Night at JxJ. Dare we say this has become a tradition! Tickets are $16 each. Purchase your tickets for the May 7 showing of Once Upon my Mother at Landmark’s Bethesda Row today! \nIf you have a Festival Pass—whether purchased or received through a donation to JxJ—you can indicate that on the registration form. If you’re unsure whether your pass is active\, we recommend double-checking with JxJ before selecting this option to ensure your registration is complete. \nTo explore other festival screenings\, click here. \n*Remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public on Thursday\, April 30 – so don’t wait! \n \n  \n
