Lt. Col. Ido Orlov, Liaison for the Home Front Command at the Israeli Embassy, will be our next Israel Distinguished Speaker. Lt. Col. Orlov will provide in depth insight and profound personal experiences as he discusses the terrorist activities along the Gaza border over the past nine months, and the new threats along Israel’s northern border posed by Hezbollah tunnels into Israel and Iranian forces in Syria. You will gain a unique window into how Israelis living in border communities cope with terrorist threats on a daily basis.

About Lt. Col. Ido Orlov

LTC Ido Orlov was born in December 1974 in Beer Sheva, Israel.

Orlov has served as the Israeli Home Front Command LNO to the U.S. National Guard Bureau in the U.S. since August 2016.

In 1993, he was drafted to the IDF and served as a combat soldier in the Infantry Corps (“Golani” brigade). After finishing his officers’ course, he was assigned in the Home Front Command (HFC).

During his service in the HFC, he served in several command, Training and staff positions, including as a commander of an urban search and rescue battalion, as the Deputy Commander of the Haifa District, and as the head of the Home Front  Arena in the IDF’s Operation Division (J3).

During his service in the Home Front Command, LTC Orlov participated in many Urban Search and Rescue operations, and earned years of experience in Emergency Management in Israel and overseas.

Orlov is a graduate BA in Middle Eastern studies and social sciences from the Sapir College.

He is married to Nava, and he is the father of three daughters and one son.
