Getting Ready for College Admissions

March 10 at 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Many of you have high school students who will be applying to college within the next few years. College admissions has changed so dramatically since all of us applied to school (way back in the 20th century). Today’s students face an ever-expanding list of decisions:

Should they take the SAT or ACT?

Submit their scores to test-optional colleges?

Apply Early Decision or Early Action?

Focus on grades, extracurriculars, summer internships, or all of the above?

(Phew!)

Thankfully, there are two members of our congregation who are experts in helping teenagers and their families successfully navigate the college admissions process without becoming overwhelmed or stressed.

Jared Friedland, Founder of the Bethesda-based test prep and college admissions firm The Playbook, and Steve Feldman, Founder of the tutoring, test prep, and admissions firm Private Prep, will be co-leading a special interactive workshop for 9th- and 10th-graders of Beth El.

At a later date there will be a special Zoom presentation for Beth El parents.

Among other topics, Jared and Steve will explain how students can:

  • Discover colleges where they will thrive academically, socially, and culturally.
  • Maximize their chances of admission, even to highly-selective universities and programs.
  • Use extracurriculars, summer programs, and volunteer activities to demonstrate sought-after qualities like compassion, leadership, and ingenuity.

There is no cost for this special opportunity.
