SUMMARY:Purple Shabbat & Tikkun Olam Shabbat: Q&A with Debbie Feinstein
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Shabbat\, October 24\, at 9:15 am for our Purple Shabbat and Tikkun Olam Shabbat. We will honor synagogue members who currently lead\, or have previously led\, Tikkun Olam initiatives on behalf of our community\, while highlighting the many volunteer efforts that embody our congregation’s commitment to social action. As part of that commitment\, and in recognition of Purple Shabbat\, an initiative of the Jewish Coalition Against Domestic Abuse\, we will also observe Domestic Violence Awareness Month in partnership with Montgomery County. \nOur Sermon will be delivered by congregant Debbie Feinstein\, senior assistant state’s attorney and chief of the Special Victims Division for Montgomery County. Following the kiddush luncheon\, at 12:30 pm\, Debbie will lead a Q&A and community discussion exploring themes from her Sermon\, including ways we can foster healthy relationships\, address domestic violence\, and support the important work of the Family Justice Center.

SUMMARY:Summer Blood Drive
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Beth El’s blood drive and help make a lifesaving difference in our community. This will be the last opportunity to donate blood at Beth El before the High Holidays. \nDuring the summer\, blood donations decline as many people travel and vacation\, while the need for blood remains high due to an increase in accidents and traumatic injuries. Your donation can help ensure that hospitals have the blood supply they need when it matters most. \nOur goal is to collect 50 units of blood\, which could help save or improve the lives of up to 150 people. \nWhether you’re a regular donor or considering giving blood for the first time\, we hope you’ll join us in this important mitzvah. \nClick here to reserve your time slot. \nFor assistance\, contact Jon Simon at jonathan747@gmail.com or Jack Ventura jack.ventura@verizon.net\, or call 240-997-3356. We also need non-donor volunteers to assist with the drive! Please contact Jack or Jon if you would like to help.
