The blood drive during Mitzvah Day will take place in an INOVA bloodmobile in front of Beth El’s entrance. This year’s Mitzvah Day blood drive is dedicated to Itamar Wahrhaftig, the husband of Beth El’s Assistant Education Director Tali Moscowitz. Itamar had to receive emergency blood transfusions this year, for which Tali is immensely appreciative to blood donors who made this possible.
In fact, someone in the U.S. needs blood every two seconds. As it happens, thankfully, each and every unit of blood donated is capable of affecting the lives of up to three people. Based on that statistic, it is estimated that Beth El’s August drive will have extended or saved between 42 and 126 lives.
The hours are 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. If you need help signing up, contact the primary coordinator for this drive, Jack Ventura, at 301-437-1872 (cell), jack.ventura@verizon.net, or co-coordinator Jon Simon at (240) 997-3356 (cell), jonathan747@gmail.com. Don’t miss this opportunity to save lives!
