Please join us on Sunday, April 30, for the Second Annual Sondra D. Bender Community Service Awards. The program honors ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
This year’s honorees are:
- Max Levitt, founder and executive director, Leveling the Playing Field. Donations of sports equipment, valued at almost $2 million in just over four years, enable underprivileged kids to enjoy the pleasures of athletic activity.
- Rob Fersh, president and founder, Convergence Center for Policy Resolution, promoting consensus solutions for major societal issues of domestic and international import. He previously served as president of the Food Research and Action Center.
- Gina Polley, led the creation of our Montgomery County Legal Aid office and served as its chief attorney. Currently deputy chief counsel for Maryland Legal Aid. Formerly managing attorney for Legal Aid in the Detroit area.
- Tali Brown, recent bat mitzvah, took on support of the work of the nonprofit Comfort Cases as her mitzvah project, helping through one-time events and ongoing activities to provide backpacks of essentials to foster children ages 1-18.
