Officers and Staff
|Sheila Bellack, Executive Director, joined the Beth El staff in July 2000. She moved to the Washington, DC, area in 1989 to become Cultural Arts Director and, subsequently, Chief Operating Officer at the JCC in Rockville. Prior to that, her career in Jewish communal service included positions at the Jewish Community Centers in Albany, NY, Toronto, and Oakland, CA, as well as Toronto Jewish Congress (now UJA Federation of Greater Toronto) and BBYO in Montreal. A native of Toronto, Canada, she received her BA from York University there and her Master’s from the State University of New York in Albany, both in Psychology. She is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Association of Temple and Synagogue Administrators (MAATSA) and the North American Association of Synagogue Executives (NAASE).

|Elisha Rothschild Frumkin, Education Director, joined the Beth El staff in 2007. Before becoming the Associate Education Director, she served as Beth El’s Assistant Education Director and Family Education Director, and served as Interim Education Director from 2012-2013. Previously, Elisha held positions as Assistant Principal at Temple Rodef Shalom in Falls Church, VA, and Youth Director at Beth Israel Congregation in Baltimore, where, in 2006, she received the Outstanding Informal Jewish Educator award from the Maryland Teen Initiative. In 2010, she was a 20/20 honoree, recognized by the Jewish Educators Assembly as one of twenty emerging Jewish educators in their 20s from the Washington, DC area. Elisha was awarded the title of Conservative Jewish Educator (CJE) in 2012, a designation recognizing her attaining a standard of achievement in the field of Conservative Jewish education. A former Teach for America Corps Member, Elisha received her Bachelor of Arts degree from The George Washington University and holds two Masters Degrees in Jewish Studies and Jewish Education from Baltimore Hebrew University. Elisha and her husband, Josh, live in Germantown, Maryland, with their two daughters, Michal and Sivan.

|Kim Lausin, Beth El Preschool Director, relocated from Cleveland, Ohio, to join the Beth El Preschool community in July of 2013. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, she brings with her over 25 years’ worth of experience as both a teacher and a preschool director. The responsibilities of the preschool director include providing a nurturing Jewish learning environment within which the children will build the foundation skills necessary to allow them to grow and thrive. Kim is the proud mother of three daughters: a psychiatrist in DC, a fourth grade teacher in Beachwood, Ohio, and a student life coordinator at Hillel who made Aliyah in the summer of 2014.

|Geryl Baer, Director of Community Engagement, has been a member of the Beth El staff since 2011. Geryl has Masters degrees in Jewish Communal Service and in Business Administration from Baltimore Hebrew University and University of Baltimore, respectively, and a BA in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies from Brandeis University. She has worked in the Jewish community since 2004 in multiple organizations such as synagogues, Hillel, Federation, and Jewish Family and Children Services. At Beth El, Geryl develops congregational programs and Age & Stage workshops and supports congregation affinity groups..

|Adam Zeren, Youth Director, B’nai Mitzvah Coordinator, Day School Liaison, joined the Beth El staff in February of 2007 as the USY Adviser, and became the Youth Director in June of that year. He added B’nai Mitzvah Coordinator and Day School Liaison to his responsibilities in the fall of 2012. He oversees our Bonim, Machar, Kadima, and USY youth groups, and is always looking for new ways to engage the kids at Beth El. He previously was the Youth Director at B’nai Shalom of Olney and worked in TV news before that. Adam is married to Kimberly and has an ice hockey loving son, Trey.

|Andrea Glazer, Development Director, returned to Beth El in September, 2013. She served as our fundraising consultant in 1998 when Beth El initiated a study, and then launched, the campaign to expand and enhance the synagogue facility. Conservative congregations have been central to her life since childhood. Receiving warm and nurturing support early on from her shul led her to a career in Jewish communal service. She has held positions as synagogue executive director locally and in New York City. In addition, she served as a development and planning consultant to numerous congregations in the Greater Washington area and beyond. At Beth El, Andrea is committed to working with professional and lay leadership to enable all members to support the Congregation in a way that fits their needs, interests and capacities.

|Ricardo Munster, Senior Programs Director, has been a member of Beth El staff since November, 2006. A native of Argentina, Ricardo received his MA in Engineering from the University of Buenos Aires, and worked in that field for many years. Following a career change in 1999, he was appointed Executive Director of the Hirsch Home in Buenos Aires, a Jewish continuing-care facility for 200 residents. Together with his wife, Irene, they moved to North Carolina in 2004, where he continued his Jewish communal involvement as the volunteer coordinator for the Durham-Chapel Hill Jewish Federation. When Irene was offered a position in the area in 2005, they moved to Bethesda, and, shortly after, they joined Beth El. In his capacity as program coordinator, Ricardo assists both rabbis for all life cycle events, works together with the rabbis and parents to ensure a smooth B’nai Mitzvah process, is in charge of the College Outreach activities, and is very involved with the Senior Caucus programming.

|Tiarra Joslyn, Communications Manager, has been a member of the Beth El staff since September, 2013. Tiarra was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nev., where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and Graphic Design from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She was the Director of Marketing and Temple Relations at Temple Beth Sholom, Las Vegas, before moving to the DC Metro area with her husband, Daniel. Tiarra maintains and keeps current the congregation’s website, manages Beth El’s social media presence, writes for the Scroll, and creates flyers and other items to help promote events and activities by the synagogue.

|Ian Rothman, Controller, joined Beth El in May 2015. A native New Yorker, he is currently working on his New Year’s resolution to bicycle more often.
|Pam Kocher, Office Manager, has been with Beth El since January 2002. She has a BA in Business Administration and uses her skills to help keep the office running smoothly.
|Hattie Goodman, Receptionist, has worked at Beth El for 15 years. Living nearby in Bethesda, she is very happy to be able to walk to work.
Tali Moscowitz, Religious School Office Manager, has been working at Beth El since 2006 in various capacities within the Religious School and Youth Department. She is currently the Religious School Office Manager and a youth group advisor. Tali moved to the Washington, DC metro area in 2002 for college and graduate school at American University.
Pamra Brown, Accounting Assistant, is a native of Orlando, Florida. Pamra also works in the Beth El Preschool as a teaching assistant.
|Lynn Pikovsky, Preschool Office Administrator, joined the Beth El Staff in July, 2014. She lives in Clarksburg with her husband and 3 children.
Jose Araujo, Facilities Manager, joined Beth El in 2005. Before joining Beth El, Jose served in the United States Army and retired after 20 years of service. Originally from the Dominican Republic, Jose moved to the U.S. in 1968.
Kevin Trainor, Chef, a native to the Washington area, is a graduate of L’Academie de Cuisine. Kevin is responsible for the preparation of Shabbat and Festival kiddushim, morning minyan breakfasts, congregational Shabbat dinners, and food service for almost all other synagogue events. He oversees the kitchen and wait staff as well as overall kitchen maintenance.
