NEW ADULT B’NAI MITZVAH CLASS FORMING

If you were able to attend the Shabbat service in February conducted almost entirely by the Adult B’nai Mitzvah class, or heard about it from friends or from the Washington Post article about Esther Isralow, you know that this is an amazing educational growth opportunity whether you had a Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony or not. The next class, led by Rabbi Rudolph, begins this fall. It’s an 18-month commitment, with the emphasis on learning and community building. If you are interested, please contact Ricardo Munster at rmunster@bethelmc.org or 301-652-8569 ext. 316, to register now or for more information.

Adult B'nai Mitzvah Class

This class is an introduction to the breadth of Jewish learning with the option of becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah by leading Shabbat morning services or a portion thereof as a group. The course is ongoing for two years and is led by the clergy. Lectures are presented by the clergy, invited scholars and local educators who share knowledge & insights usually every other Sunday morning from 10:15 am to 11:45 am. Participants will develop a basic ability to read Hebrew and will be given reading in English and other assignments to prepare for class. Topics covered include: Jewish history, holidays, life cycle, theology, medical ethics, kashrut, Shabbat, cantillation, the Torah, the various services as well as other religious topics. Men & Women are welcome. Culminates with a Shabbat service led by the B'nai Mitzvah Group
Even if you already "had" a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, this is an opportunity to consider.
