Zhava - Who we are...
Zhava (which means gold in Hebrew) is an initiative of Conservative Sisterhoods across the United States. Zhava's mission is to promote and develop future leaders by attracting young women through exciting programs and activities. Beth El's Zhava recently began our first year and we are planning dynamic programs including Torah and yoga, museum tours and Shabbat dinners.

Zhava Upcoming Events:

Zhava Havdalah
On January 6th, Zhava moms and their children enjoyed a terrific Havdalah ceremony led by Rabbi Harris and Robyn Helzner.  Following music and dancing, children made yummy sundaes and played with their friends.

Zhava Kick-off Wine Tasting
Zhava held its first event this past June. Co-Chairwomen Sharon Fine and Arielle Grill and fellow board members invited friends to a wine tasting -and the opportunity to make some new friends! Thank you to Bill and Hillary Kapner for hosting this wonderful event!

Finding Balance in our Lives
On September 10, 50 Beth El women joined Dr. Erica Brown, scholar in residence for the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, to consider how to find balance in our lives. The program, sponsored by Zhava, and Co-Chaired by Stacy Silber, Ann Kaplan, Tammy Glatz Landy, and Rebekah Harris drew women in all stages of life.

Zhava Used Book Drive for Israeli Children's Libraries
Zhava members participated in a tzedakah project collecting children's books for a library in Beit Shemesh, Israel.  After hearing from a community liaison from the Partnership 2000 project at the Jewish Federation, we dedicated the books, sorted them, and packed them up for shipment to Beit Shemesh.

Fiesta!
May 31st was fiesta night for about 65 Zhava women who enjoyed the beautiful warm evening by Sharon Fine's pool.  We drank frozen margaritas, ate delicious desserts and laughed for hours.
