Beth El has an award winning USY program that’s open to all Jewish teens in high school. Beth El USY was recognized in back to back years for being the top USY chapter in the entire Seaboard Region. The group runs activities 2-4 times a month during the school year. Past events have included late night laser tag parties, sleepovers at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Hanukkah parties, making teddy bears for sick children, helping at a homeless shelter, broomball games on ice, teen run Shabbat services, Hadag Nachash concerts and more. As part of the Seaboard Region, Beth El USYers also can attend conventions with hundreds of other Jewish teens. There is also a USY basketball league that plays games through the winter. For more information contact, Adam Zeren at azeren@bethelmc.org.
KADIMA & JR. USY (6th, 7th & 8th)

Beth El has two groups available for Jewish middle school kids. Kadima, which is for 6th and 7th graders meets at least once a month during the school year. The focus is to bring Jewish kids together in a social setting for activities like mall scavenger hunts, chocolate seders, and goes on hay rides. Since we’ve recognized that 8th graders are too old to hanging out with 6th and 7th graders and too young to be with high school teens, we created Junior USY just for them. Our Junior USY meets once a month as well doing things like going on an overnight ski trip and going on a limo scavenger hunt. Members in both groups are eligible to attend Seaboard Kallahs in the fall and in the spring. For more information, email kadima@bethelmc.org.
MACHAR (3rd-5th)

Machar is our youth group for all 3rd-5th graders. Machar programs start to allow the kids a little independence. There’s fewer adults needed to supervise the activity and the programs can sometimes be on a Saturday night. Examples of past Machar programs include apple picking around Rosh Hashanah and a chocolate seder around Passover. Machar also has done a fire and ice program where members daven Havdalah before going ice skating on a Saturday night. Machar meets once a month. Their events can either be on a Saturday night or Sunday after Religious School. For more information, please email machar@bethelmc.org.
BONIM (K-2nd)

Bonim is the group for our youngest members. The kids are anywhere from kindergarten through 2nd grade. Bonim programs are almost exclusively after religious school on Sunday afternoons and the events are almost always in the building. This setup makes life easier for parents because Bonim staff picks up your child from their classroom at the end of the school day and takes them to the activity. Previous Bonim events have included challah baking, a Hanukkah menorah making contest, yoga, a field day, using 25,000 legos to design a Passover scene and much, much more. For more information about Bonim, please email bonim@bethelmc.org.
