Education
The Education Committee plans and facilitates programs with a wide range of educational content. Over the years, these programs have included women's health, the value of oral histories and intergenerational communication, and the study of Jewish rituals and texts. Ideas for future programs are always welcomed, as are volunteers to help with the various programs.

Ritual
The Ritual Committee is responsible for organizing and coordinating Sisterhood programs related to the religious practices of our Jewish life. There are two major activities each year that are this committee's main focus, Sisterhood Shabbat and The Women's Seder. Sisterhood Shabbat is usually in January and is a service lead entirely by Sisterhood members. During the service we honor the recipient of the Golda Meir Leadership Award. The Celia and Audrey Resnik Memorial Lecture is also a highlight of the service. We are always looking for women who read Torah and Haftorah or know how to lead parts of the service. Just before Passover we hold the Women's' Seder where we read from a special Hagadah written by our own women, we join in song with Calliope (a special women's singing group who all met at Beth El) and we eat a delicious meal together. From the Seder we learn how important women are in our Jewish life and heritage. Volunteers are needed to help with these programs and others that may come up through out the year.

World Affairs & Social Action
The Co-Vice Presidents for World Affairs and Social Action organize and coordinate social action projects. Some of these activities involve donating food and supplies or serving meals at deserving organizations in our community, such as the Rainbow Place shelter, the Community Based Shelter, and the Children’s Inn at NIH. We also support Juvenile Diabetes Research through gift wrapping at Montgomery Mall and participate in annual fall Mitzvah Day activities. At the Women’s Seder, we collect Wheat Money to donate to the needy. Recent additions to the community service list are taking donations to feed the hungry at Megillah Madness, Box Tops for Education to benefit Weller Road Elementary School, and joining with Zhava to provide food and gift cards for Thanksgiving dinners for Weller Road families. With an eye on acute and evolving needs locally and worldwide, we choose beneficiaries for tzedakah collected at Sisterhood Board meetings and other major events. We welcome ideas for new hands-on community service projects.
